Congo is a vast country located in the heart of Africa containing some of Africa’s most unique and undiscovered attractions waiting to be experienced.

In terms of species diversity, it is also African's rich protected area.In Congo, one can find species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world e.g. Okapis, Bonobos and eastern lowland Gorillas.

Kahuzi Biega National Park

Located in South Kivu province, just around 30kms from Bukavu; Kahuzi Biega NP is the home of lowland Gorillas, an endangered and intriguing animal. Seeing the lion while you are protected in the vehicle is one thing, crawling through bamboo forest for several hours and finding a silver back gorilla standing just a few meters in front of you is a quite another. You will never forget looking into a gorilla's brown, intelligent, eyes staring unblinking at you. The species there are eastern lowland gorillas, different from the mountainous ones found in Virunga NP. Kahuzi Biega NP is a mountainous jungle area; there are numerous gorilla families in the park as well as chimpanzees, monkeys, buffalos, antelopes and forest elephants. Only four of the gorilla families have been conditioned to accept human visitors. Finding them normally takes one to two hours, so you may be back to Bukavu by early afternoon.
